A bomb squad was called to a south Edmonton playground Saturday after the discovery of "homemade explosive devices."

Police tell CTV News they initially responded to a grass fire in the area near école Frère Antoine Elementary School at 2849 Mill Woods Rd.

When they arrived, police say they found a number of "homemade explosive devices."

Officers say the bottles were filled with some sort of chemical.

Police do not believe the bottles were placed in the area with intent to harm.

For precautionary reasons, the bomb unit was called in to destroy the bottles.

The contents of the bottles are being analyzed. No injuries were reported.

Police continue to investigate.
