Edmonton police are searching for two suspects, after a man in his 20s was randomly robbed and stabbed, and then drove himself to hospital early Thursday morning.
Police said a 21-year-old man had been driving northbound on 119 Street, and was stopped at a red light on 40 Avenue when two suspects walking in the area allegedly jumped inside his car.
It's believed one of the suspects produced a weapon, and demanded the driver's belongings; an undisclosed amount of cash, plus a personal ID were handed over.
At this point, police said the two suspects ordered the man to drive to 117 Street and 43 Avenue, where the driver was stabbed by one of the suspects, before both left the car, fleeing the scene on foot.
The first suspect is described as:
- Aboriginal male
- Mid 20s
- More than 183 cm (6') tall
- Large build
- At the time, he was wearing a red jacket or hoodie
The other suspect is described as:
- Caucasian male
- Mid 20s
- About 175 cm (5'8" - 5'9") tall
- Thin or average build
- At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark jacket or hoodie, and plaid pyjama-type pants
Following the incident, the victim drove himself to hospital, arriving at 2 a.m.
Investigators believe the suspects could also be connected with an earlier incident Thursday at about 1 a.m. at 117 Street and 43 Avenue.
Police said the suspects are considered dangerous, and should not be approached.
