It's the second day in the trial into the shooting death of a 23-year-old woman in the spring of 2010 at a north-side LRT station.
Colton Ferguson, 21, was charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Heather Rae Thurier in the Stadium LRT station on May 21, 2010.
On the second day of the trial, surveillance video of the shooting, along with the altercation leading up to it, were played in court.
The video was shown during the testimony of Thurier's nephew, Jordan Arcand who, along with his cousin, was with the victim at the time.
Several surveillance cameras recorded the three as they walked through the station, just before 10:30 p.m.
After they stopped near a payphone, a man approached – it's alleged the group asked him for a cigarette.
It's believed Thurier and the man, who police have identified is Colton Ferguson, got into an argument – and the man identified as Ferguson pulled out a long blunt object.
The Crown has entered a photo of the object, which appears to be a shotgun, as evidence in the trial.
At this point, the man appeared to walk away, but returns – the video shows Thurier making gestures – and they exchange words again.
Then, the video shows the man pointing the blunt object at Thurier, and moments later she is seen lying on the ground, having sustained a fatal wound.
On the stand, Arcand said he could not remember many details from that night, including what the man involved looked like.
He said the three of them had been drinking and smoking marijuana in the hours leading up to the altercation.
On Wednesday, Arcand's cousin will take the stand.
The trial is expected to continue for two weeks.
