Freezing cold temperatures and extreme wind chill warnings have pushed officials with several school divisions throughout northern Alberta to cancel school bus service on Wednesday, January 18.
The affected school divisions include:
- Parkland
- Sturgeon
- Battle River
- Peace River
- Greater St. Albert Regional (morning service)
- Black Gold Regional
- Pembina Hills Regional
School Division officials said schools will remain open regardless of the cancellations.
Environment Canada has issued a wind chill warning for many regions throughout northern Alberta, wind chill values between -40 degrees Celsius and -50 degrees Celsius are expected to last into Wednesday morning.
