Longtime Tory MLA Iris Evans will not be running in the next election. Evans broke the news to her constituents Tuesday night.

Evans will have served in elected office for 33 years, and 15 of those as an MLA.

She says she will serve for the Tory party in the next election however they see fit.

She backed Gary Mar in the leadership election and says she told Mar and the Redford camp of her decision to leave before the vote.

"I'm just looking forward to doing something else in my life...I want to do something else with the next 33 years," she said.

Evans says Alison Redford will be an amazing leader. The next election is expected in the spring.
