A Lac La Biche man is out on bail, with strict conditions, after he was arrested and charged with possessing and distributing child pornography last week.

Sixty-two-year-old Daniel Stoesz made his first court appearance Monday, walking into the courthouse in handcuffs, and walking out on bail.

Last week, after an extensive investigation and a tip-off from the FBI in Connecticut, members from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's Internet Child Exploitation unit (ALERT, ICE) arrested and charged Stoesz, with possessing child pornography, and making it available.

The former foster care supervisor and foster parent has no prior criminal record, so a judge granted Stoesz bail, with strict conditions.

Under those conditions, Stoesz is banned from contacting youth under the age of 18, he must find a new residence – that must be approved by the court, and he is not allowed to access the internet.

Stoesz next court appearance will be at the end of January, 2012.
