After an investigation in the U.S. lead investigators to his doorstep, a Lac La Biche man is facing charges of child pornography.

ALERT's ICE unit has charged 62-year-old Daniel Quiring Stoesz with possessing child pornography, and making it available.

The charges come after Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's Internet Child Exploitation unit (ICE) began investigating after receiving information from the FBI in Connecticut about the possibility someone was distributing child pornography over the internet from the Lac La Biche area.

On Thursday, December 1, Lac La Biche RCMP along with members of the ICE unit executed a search warrant on the home, and seized a number of computers, and electronic storage devices.

The suspect was not at home at the time, but was later found and arrested by RCMP members in Bonnyville.

After some investigation, the ICE unit found the accused is employed by the Government of Alberta, as a foster care supervisor in the Lac La Biche area.

Investigators have seized computer equipment and storage devices from Stoesz workplace, and are still investigating the case.

Stoesz made his first court appearance Friday in Lac La Biche, he will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, December 5.
