Police have laid charges after 70 firearms were seized from a home in southwest Edmonton last summer.

RCMP say 39-year-old Christian Bonilla of Edmonton is facing a total 72 charges:

  • Four counts of importing a prohibited firearm into Canada
  • Four counts of possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Forty-nine counts of possession of a prohibited device; in this case a gun magazine
  • Fifteen counts of unsafe storage

The investigation, which began in May, resulted in the seizure of firearms and more than 100,000 rounds of ammunition in August.

Bonilla is expected to appear in an Edmonton court on January 16.
