The Canadian Food Inspection Agency along with the company which distributes the product, is recalling a certain type of ready-to-eat food, because it may be contaminated with listeria.

The Ginger Beef Choice brand Special Combo, sold in a one kilogram package, with UPC number 6 65075 22980 2 and Best Before date of November 28, 2011.

The product was sold in Costco stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not appear spoiled, but eating contaminated food could cause listeriosis.

Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea – and pregnant women, people with weakened immune systems and the elderly are particularly at risk.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the product.
