Several protestors lined the street outside Rexall Place criticizing the Canadian Finals rodeo for its treatment of animals.

Members of Voice for Animals said the rodeo treats the animals inhumanely.

The group said one of the top saddle bronc riders was caught on video using cattle prods to make his horse buck.

"He was sitting on it and waiting to go out into the ring and they were shocking the horse with cattle prods, which deliver about 5,000 bolts of electricity," Executive director Tove Reece told CTV News.

She said people needed to ask themselves if this was the kind of role model they wanted.

However, rodeo participants said the group does not have all the facts.

"They're misinformed," Ryan Bourke said.

"That is not what makes them buck. They're raised to do this and they are going to do it either way."

The activist group said other rodeo events have been changing their ways and making the events more animal friendly.
