An explosion and fire at a RV storage park in the city east-end Tuesday has left five people homeless. Fire investigators now reveal the fire was deliberately set.

The fire broke out at an RV storage park at Yellowhead Trail and 18 Street just after 3:30 p.m.

Firefighters arrived and started evacuating other RV's and a nearby motel.

Eyewitnesses report they heard an explosion.

"It felt like somebody had driven into the house and it shook it extremely bad," Kimberly Barley told CTV News.

"My daughter and I ran to the window to see what happened and noticed next door was on fire and realized there was an explosion.

The fire was under control in about an hour. One person suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators say the fire resulted from a deliberately set propane explosion.

"We know that the fire was caused by a propane vapour leak. It was ignited by something within the trailer and caused the explosion," said fire investigator, Shayne Page.

Three RV's were destroyed. Investigators believe the total damages to be about $100,000. Edmonton police are now investigating.
