A police officer who shot and killed a man last November will not face criminal charges.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team said the RCMP officer was justified in firing his weapon in an incident on November 19, 2010.

The victim had barricaded himself inside a house on the Driftpile First Nation for over 11 hours.

When he came out of the house he had a loaded hunting rifle aimed at officers.

The ASIRT investigation found the officer shot twice and hit the man once.

According to a provincial press release the victim had told a negotiator that he intended to shoot police officers.
