Despite earlier reports that the Heartland Transmission line was suspended, Premier Alison Redford said a decision was still expected Monday on the future of the project.

"I think it was the result of a miscommunication," Redford said during a press conference Friday afternoon.

The gaffe comes after the Alberta Utility Commission (AUC) said they put the Heartland line, the Western Alberta line and the Eastern Alberta lines on hold at the request of the government.

The Commission said they received a letter from Minister of Energy, Ted Morton, requesting them to suspend the review processes and hearings for the three projects.

The Liberals claim it is the sign that Redford's camp isn't functioning well.

"Clearly it's another flip flop," NDP leader Brian Mason said.

Critics also said the Tories just want to appease angry voters before the next election.

"Now she's saying we won't necessarily be going ahead with these projects but trust us on the heartland project," Mason said.

The Minster of Energy, who sent the letter, said the province cannot afford to build the projects.

"The projected costs are anywhere from $5 to $16 billion," he explained.

The AUC is expected to have a decision on the future of the Heartland Transmission line on Monday.

The West and Eastern Alberta Transmission lines are still on hold.
