Three major transmission projects have been put on hold at the government's request.

The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) said they have put the Heartland line, the Western Alberta line and the Eastern Alberta line on hold.

The Commission said they received a letter from Minister of Energy, Ted Morton, requesting them to suspend the review processes and hearings for the three projects.

The news comes just days before a decision was expected about the Heartland Transmission line.

AUC said it planned to make a decision after the government reviewed its approach to critical transmission infrastructure.
