A day after her family was contacted by RCMP after human remains were found in central Alberta, investigators have confirmed the identity of the body is that of a missing 31-year-old woman.

RCMP said human remains were found Sunday, about 10 kilometres west of Innisfail.

Dana Turner's family was contacted, Turner's mother told CTV News members of her family had met with RCMP on Tuesday, and were told the remains were most likely Dana's.

Investigators also said it appeared her death was a result of foul play.

The 31-year-old mother was last seen on August 14 at the Quality Inn West Harvest with an unknown male.

She was also recorded on surveillance footage from a Domo Gas station at 177 Street and 98 A Avenue on the same day.

Three weeks ago, RCMP reported they had found the vehicle she was last seen driving, however they couldn't disclose where it had been found.

RCMP said the cause of Turner's death still has yet to be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office, but it is considered suspicious.

Police are still asking for the public's help in finding out what happened to Dana Turner, anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or Fort Saskatchewan RCMP at 780-992-6100.
