After three years of constant detours and congestion, Alberta Transportation says drivers will soon breeze through the Anthony Henday.

While it may appear like there is a lot of work left to be done ahead of the November 1st deadline, the province assures it's just putting the finishing touches on several projects.

"Motorists will be happy because on the southwest leg of the Henday we have five interchanges opening in the coming two weeks," said spokesperson Alison Burns.

"That includes Stony Plain Road, Rabbit Hill Road, Callingwood, Lessard and Cameron Heights."

Byron Nicholson, Director of Special Projects, says recent weather is a big reason plans are running smoothly.

"Things are in good shape. The fall that we've had has really been helpful, as far as catching up on the wet season we had in June and July."

Officials say motorists will notice interchanges opening as early as October 14th.

By the time the project is done, 40,000 motorists who travel the busy stretch on a daily basis will have access to 69 kilometres of free-flow traffic.
