Police have laid charges in the death of a 23-year-old man Saturday, after he was found suffering from a gunshot wound in an apartment building in Edmonton's west-end.

Homicide detectives have charged the victim's 24-year-old roommate in connection to the death.

Steven Laflamme has been charged with manslaughter,  a firearms related offence, and obstruction.

His roommate, Kyle Joy-Trussert was found by officers at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday lying on the floor of his apartment on 177 Street and 81 Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to hospital in unstable condition, and he died at about 11 a.m. that day.

An autopsy to verify the cause of death has been scheduled for Monday morning.

Police are crediting witnesses for their help with the swift arrest.

"Investigators received good co-operation from witnesses in an effort to gather information and evidence," Staff Sargeant Dave Spiers with the EPS Homicide Section said in a press release.

Investigators said no other suspects are being sought in this case.
