After a weeks-long investigation into the stabbing death of a man in June, police have a teen in custody, and he faces multiple charges.

The arrest and charges stem from the city's 26th homicide on June 19.

Police were called to the area of 107 Street and 107 Avenue shortly after midnight and on arrival found 22-year-old Bruce Dumais lying on the ground, suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Dumais was taken to hospital by paramedics, where he later died.

Shortly after his death, family and friends confirmed his identity to local media, the mother of his two young children recalled Dumais as a happy man, and a great father.

"He loved his children a lot," Chelsie Janvier said over the phone the day Dumais died. "He would always be doing things with them out in the park."

RCMP arrested a 16-year-old male in St. Paul on Friday; the teen's identity cannot be made public under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The teen, who resides in the Saddle Lake reserve, has been charged with second degree murder and possession of a weapon.
