A 33-year-old inmate at the Bowden Institution has been charged with the second-degree murder of another inmate.
Keith Clinton Sandmaier is charged in relation to the death of 38-year-old inmate Tung David Louie.
Following an autopsy, the medical examiner confirmed Louie died as a result of being stabbed.
Correctional Officers found the male in medical distress at about 11 a.m. last
Sunday. Nurses and officers administered first aid, and the inmate was taken to hospital. He was pronounced dead in hospital.
Sandmaier will make his first court appearance in Red Deer Court on Thursday.
Bowden Institution is located approximately five kilometres south of Innisfail.
