Edmontonians gathered downtown in the hundreds to start the Edmonton Pride Festival in the capital region.

The festival officially kicked off Friday, with presentations at City Hall, followed by a kick-off party.

The party continued with a parade down 102 Avenue, ending at Churchill Square.

The parade was followed by the Celebration on the Square, featuring dozens of vendors, food and other activities.

The festival runs until June 19, with several events planned for the coming days at different locations throughout the city.
