Staff from the Edmonton Humane Society is heading to Slave Lake Tuesday for an animal rescue mission. An animal rescue committee in Slave Lake has already rounded up several animals that are believed to be lost or abandoned after flames ripped through the town, destroying hundreds of homes and buildings.

The Edmonton Humane Society spent most of Tuesday contacting owners of the 30 animals that had been running loose in town. continue to search for lost or abandoned animals for the next two days.

 Members were able to find the owners for all 30 animals. The animals are being housed at a maintenance yard in town. On Wednesday, they will be shipped to the Expo Centre in Edmonton by the Prairie Animal Rescue Society.
