A rehab centre west of Edmonton has suffered serious fire damage Thursday.

The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. at the Gunn Centre, which provides a place to stay for men dealing with drug and alcohol addictions.

The facility's kitchen and dining hall were destroyed, but the fire did not spread to any of the housing units for the 100 residents.

"Unfortunately got into the attic and ran in the attic, and we weren't able to stop it, so here we are…we got no roof on the building anymore," said Fire Services Manager Jim Thompson.

No one was injured in the fire.

Plans are now being made to truck food in.

The centre has been operating since 1941.
