With the Edmonton Indy only two-and-a-half months away, work is getting underway to re-vamp the track at the City Centre Airport.

Construction is in full swing on the track that will see a $3-million upgrade. The revision will include a straight-away that could see speeds up to 400-kilometres an hour.

Canadian driver Paul Tracy is looking forward to seeing it all come together.

"You know, I'm excited for the new track.  I've always had good success on the old track, so I don't want the change but the change is necessary," he said.

Organizers from Octane Racing are confident the work should be done well ahead of race day.

"We started working on the track this week. We will be paving in the next few of weeks. That work will take about a month to cure. They have to at least give the track time 30 days to cure the pavement," said Anne Roy with Octane Racing.

Once the work is complete, the grand stands and other structures will be installed. That work is expected to begin in early June.
