A local company is touting a new iPhone application that promises to deliver everything people need while setting out on waters with a fishing rod - from how to tie a lure to catch limits.

The iFish Alberta feature allows users to search the province's 450 lakes by name or proximity and includes directions, information on species, real-time weather and points of interest.

Randy Chamzuk, who works for a QDI Group of Companies, is behind the invention and says the goal is to provide practical information.

"It's better, more, faster...We can see the type of species that are in this lake, we can get map and directions, a depth chart, boat launch location," he said.

"Even if you are offline without a cell phone connection, you can still get basic data."
