A 27-year-old from a hamlet just south of Grande Prairie is facing a first-degree murder charge after the body of his father was found in a rural residence on Friday.
Matthew Crichton, of Grovesdale, is accused of killing 73-year-old Alex Crichton.
The cause of death will not be revealed until an autopsy is conducted on Tuesday.
The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in a Grande Prairie courtroom on Wednesday.
