RCMP say they have found one of two men reported missing nine days ago and have since charged him with second-degree murder.

Kenneth Carlson, of Hines Creek, and Martin Cook, of Grande Prairie, were last seen on August 12th and a report was filed two days later.

According to officials, on August 19th Cook's 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck was located in a remote oil lease northwest of Manning. Carlson was allegedly in possession of the vehicle.

Further investigation lead to the location of a body in the area. Officials say they will not reveal the identity or cause of death until an autopsy is conducted on Monday.

A number of detachments and support units were deployed in the investigation including resources from Grande Prairie, Fairview, Grimshaw, Manning, Assumption, Spirit River and High Level. The RCMP Major Crime Unit, forensic identification specialists, and three separate canine teams were also dispatched.

Carlson has since been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in a Peace River courtroom on Monday at 9:30 a.m.
