The Capital Region is now home to a new theme park for kids and families. Jurassic Forest, a 40-acre prehistoric preserve, is now open to the public.
Set in an old growth forest, life-sized and realistic-looking dinosaurs live and breathe in Jurassic Forest.
"Sixty-five million years ago this is what this looks like and that very dinosaur may have walked through this very forest," said Greg Suess, Jurassic Forest manager.
Children and families get to watch dinosaurs in action, and check out a land populated with plants and animals that ruled the planet 250 million years ago.
"If we can entertain and provide an educational experience, that's our goal," said Suess.
And eight-year-old Grant Dolimount is certainly learning a lot about dinosaurs.
"The Tyrannosaurus is the most fierce dinosaur," he said.
And come September, teachers and their students will be able to discover the new and interactive way of learning about dinosaurs.
The park will offer guided tours with expert Jurassic Forest staff and teach students about the traits and characteristics of more than 20 different dinosaurs.
Jurassic Forest is located 15 minutes north of Edmonton just off of Highway 28A and Township Road 564.
