It's no shock to say that Edmonton is full of hockey fans, but some might be surprised to hear that the NHL draft prompted one city couple to name their newborn baby after Oilers draft pick Taylor Hall.

Troy and Carle Koyich welcomed their baby girl into the world Friday, joking that they would name their daughter after newly-drafted Oiler Taylor Hall. While it started as a joke, the idea stuck.

"She got her way with McKenna and I got my way with Taylor, so everybody wins," said Troy Koyich.

The Koyich's have named their daughter McKenna Taylor – hoping the birth of their daughter will inspire a rebirth of the Oilers. They are hoping rookie Hall will lead the Oilers to another Stanley Cup.

"It's all about Stanley," said Troy Koyich. "I want to see a Stanley Cup before I die and I know it will happen."

Retailers are anxiously waiting to hear what number will be on the back of Hall's jersey. They say fans can't wait to get their hands on a Taylor Hall jersey.

"As soon as the number gets announced then we will start printing jerseys and we already have a list of customers saying ‘call me when they are in and I'll come down and get one right away,'" said Kelly Hodgson, the manager of United Cycle.
