More than a dozen cyclists and a couple of skateboarders were handed tickets during Edmonton police's 'Sidewalks for Pedestrians' campaign along Whyte Avenue.

Edmonton police are once again stressing the message that sidewalks are for pedestrians only. In an attempt to push the message out, Whyte Avenue beat officers will continue to crack down on cyclists, skateboarders and rollerbladers who use sidewalks illegally during the summer months.

By the end of the campaign, 113 verbal warnings were issued to violators. Officers will be stepping up enforcement during the week of the Fringe Festival, Aug. 17 to 22.
