An arrest has been made in relation to the suspicious death of a 21-month-old foster child.

Police have not confirmed the name, age, or sex of the person arrested. Investigators have not revealed what charges will be laid.

In March, police said the death of the young girl was being investigated as a homicide.

The child passed away at the Stollery Children's Hospital on March 3rd, two days after an alleged incident at her foster home in the Morinville area.

The biological family told CTV News the toddler had only been in foster care for about two months at that point. They said the little girl suffered severe brain damage, and that doctors told them the toddler may have been shaken to death.

At that time, the province claimed privacy laws prevented it from disclosing how long the foster parents had been in the system, or if there were currently other foster children residing in the same home.
