A 28-year-old Red Deer man is facing several charges after RCMP discovered a stash of illegal drugs while conducting a routine traffic stop on the Queen Elizabeth II Hwy.

Police say when they pulled Marty Dickson over, they discovered various quantities of cocaine, crystal meth, gamma hydroxybutric acid (G.H.B.) and ketamine in his vehicle. The last two drugs fall under the category of date rape drugs, and are commonly used to facilitate sexual assault.

Following the initial search, which was conducted near Innisfail on Wednesday, Dickson was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of trafficking and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

He has been released and is due to appear in a Red Deer court room on May 25th.
