A lawyer representing a former Alberta Conservative MP who was charged with drunk driving and cocaine possession announced Tuesday there has been a resolution in the case.

Howard Rubel says at Rahim Jaffer's last court appearance, the court was told the case would be put over to March 9th.

At that point unspecified conditions attached to the resolution will be disclosed.

Jaffer, 37, was MP for Edmonton-Strathcona from 1997 until he was defeated by NDP Linda Duncan in the 2008 election.

During the campaign, he ran radio advertisements that supported drug-free schools and tough laws against drug dealers, saying, "Edmontonians understand how difficult it is to make sure our children make the right choices especially on serious issues like drug use."

Jaffer is married to federal Tory cabinet minister Helena Guergis, and was arrested outside Palgrave Ontario, just north of Toronto, in September.
