Autopsy results performed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner have concluded that a family of four from Smith, Alta. died as a result of gunshots early Sunday.

Police determined that three of the deceased sustained multiple firearm related injuries while the fourth succumbed from what appears to be a single, fatal, self-inflicted injury.

Investigators believe the person responsible for all four deaths is among the four deceased. The deaths are now being classified as a triple murder-suicide. The family was found dead in a home early Sunday by Mounties.

Terry Eliuk told CTV News among the four dead was his nine-year-old daughter Misty.

Eliuk also identified the remaining three as Misty's mother Jolene, grandfather Ian, and grandmother Joan. It is believed that the grandfather committed the murders and then took his own life.

Eliuk was separated from his daughter's mother and lived near his former in-laws home.

He shared custody of their two children. The couple also has a 12-year-old son, who was with Eliuk when the incident happened.

"He knows it too very much, tells me that he could have been over there too," he said Tuesday.

Eliuk said the grandparents were dealing with mounting financial and personal problems.

RCMP have not officially released the names of the deceased.
