Christopher Crane originally pleaded not guilty in the case of a Hobbema toddler who was injured in a drive-by shooting, and on Monday changed his plea to guilty.

Crane pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, robbery, use of a firearm and possession. In an agreed statement of facts read Monday Crane admitted to firing off a rifle out a car window outside a Hobbema home on April 13th, where a toddler, Asia Saddleback, was hit in her stomach as she sat at the table.

Asia was rushed to the hospital and remained in critical but stable condition for days and still has a bullet lodged in her spine.

Crane and another teen were charged with numerous offenses between them, including assault with a weapon and gun-related charges. Crane pleaded guilty to four of 16 charges against him.

Crown attorney Rod Clark said he's pleased with the outcome.

"We've been anticipating the guilty plea for about a month now," he said.

On the day of the shooting, Asia was at her grandfather's house. The court heard that he is related to members of a gang known as the Samson True Soldiers and that Crane is a member of a rival gang.

Asia's mother Candace Saddleback says she's thankful her daughter is alive.

"I'm very lucky that she's still alive, and she's still here."

The other male teen involved was found guilty of aggravated assault and three weapons charges in January of this year.

Crane will be sentenced at the end of May.
