The winner of David Foster's Star Search is performing tonight at the Winspear in his last chance to wow the acclaimed producer and be considered Foster's next big find.
Tyler Hamilton, a 30-year-old carpenter, beat out hundreds of contestants to perform at a sold-out celebrity gala with David Foster Sarturday evening.
"It is absolutely the biggest moment of my life," said Hamilton. "This could change my life."
In a final twist Foster has asked Tyler to perform a duet with his latest singing-sensation, Charice Pempengco.
"Tyler just seemed to own the stage and he had that extra swagger, plus he sings beautifully and he sang in tune which is really important," said Foster.
The 16-year-old, Pempengco, wowed Oprah Winfrey last week and critics expect her career to continue to soar.
"In a situation like this, you elevate to your highest level and we'll see how he does tonight. I bet he'll do great," said Foster.
Saturday night's celebrity gala will include performances from Paul Anka and Sinbad.
The evening is expected to pull in $3 million for The David Foster Foundation. Proceeds will help support families of children requiring organ transplants.
"We're going to raise more money here than we've ever raised before anywhere in Canada, I believe," said Foster.
