Two Edmonton area pilots had the wedding of their dreams; they tied the knot 32,000 feet above the city in Boeing 737 Saturday.

It started off as a casual idea that was passed around in conversation, but after the bride and groom delved deeper into the logistics of making it happen they soon found they'd be able to have their high flying wedding.

"The whole thing about the church and the park came up and then I said what about in an airplane," said groom Michael Griffith.

"He asked I wonder how much it would cost to charter a 737 and I said for what, and he said to get married on," said bride Martha Bull.

About 70 guests took their seats in the aircraft as it circled around Edmonton for an hour during the ceremony.

Aviation officials say there have been several weddings in smaller planes, but they say this is the first wedding, they know of, to take place in a Boeing 737.

The pilots met while working for Servisair, a ramp handling company based at the Edmonton International Airport.

"They are both so interested in flying, that it's very fitting for...both of them," said the bride's mother Regina Bull.

The newlyweds also have an aviation-themed reception planned, complete with an airplane cake top.
