Jeannette LaBrie's passion for storytelling began when she was only 11 years old when she was hired to be part of a radio play. Her interest flourished and by Grade 9 she decided she would be a television news reporter. At 19, she graduated from MacEwan College with a journalism diploma.

She started her professional journey at CTV in July of 1990 taking the long road, also known as Highway 63, to Fort McMurray to begin her career as a photojournalist.

Three years up North served her well as she developed a new understanding and appreciation for the oilsands and a love for the small Northern community.

This was only her first stop in her travels; she later worked in Red Deer and then St. Albert as a regional reporter. Along the way, she spent two weeks embedded with the Canadian military in Bosnia. The documentary she shot and produced was nominated for a Canadian Association of Journalists award.

In 1997, Jeannette came back home to Edmonton where she reports, anchors and produces. In 2007, she discovered another passion -- spending time with the special children she features in her Wednesday's Child segments.

When Jeannette is not working at CTV, she motivates young journalism students in the classroom as an instructor in the Radio and Television program at NAIT.

Jeannette also has dedicated hundreds of hours towards fundraising for cancer research. For the past several years she has been involved with the Terry Fox Run in the Edmonton area, serving as the run organizer for the last two years in Sherwood Park.

Jeannette is proud to be a part of CTV Edmonton's rich history and connection to the community.
