On Sunday May 15, 2011, a series of wildfires fueled by high winds devastated the town of Slave Lake, Alberta. This thriving northern Alberta community of 7,000 people watched in horror as their town hall, library and dozens of homes were enveloped by flames and destroyed. After all the devastation, the one exceptional thing is that there have been no reports of casualties.
